Ribbon Tiara Hairstyle for Girly-Girls!

This is the "second day 'do" or "recycled hairstyle" of the post BIRTHDAY HAIR!  I thought the tiara look across her hair was so cute! and it was staying in so well, I just couldn't take it out after only one day! So here's what we did with it on day 2 ....

Take out all the elastics, but leave the ribbon-braid tiara in.
(I actually took out all the ribbons and elastics before she went to bed the previous night)

Then part the hair in half (just the top section - the back is staying down in loose curls again) and pull one side up into a little ponytail - the ponytail is going to be centered over the base of the braid.

Make matching ponytails on each side! (I just held the tail of the ribbon with the other hair, so it's in the ponytail as well)

Add some accessories and you're good to go!

Three Days of Three Braids - Day Three

The Final Installment :)

This hairdo was kinda wacky - but I liked it!
I took out the elastic holding the first braid, and then twisted the braid (and the loose hair under it) back toward the back of Q's head, including the other two braids as I went. I made a twist on the other side of her head as well and pinned both twists, creating a sort of cascade of curls in the back! :)

The pictures aren't as great as I would have liked - but in this one you can see the twist behind the braid - It kind of swoops around ...

And there's the other side. Yummy apple! Thanks Daddy! :)

I hope you enjoyed the Three Days of Three Braids! :)
Hair styles can be very versatile! No need to start completely over each day - unless you want to!

Three Days of Three Braids - Day Two

Here's our slight variation for Day 2 -

tiny claw clips!

I just twisted the ends of the braids around the base of the braid, then attached the claw clip to hold it together!

Don't forget to check tomorrow for Day 3! ...

Un-Braided Hairdo

This one is after a 3 day stint in braids!
(posts coming with all the variations we did on that theme!)

We used the wavy undone braid hair and went with it! Instead of trying to start all over (no time for a bath this morning - this was our mother's day 'do! lol)

It's hard to see in that picture, but her braids had been in a headband type of design, so I left the parts where they wanted to go and bobby pinned the sides back on each side. Nice and loose so that the wavy hair kept it's wave. :)

Then when I had the bobby pins crossed in an X where I wanted them, I added a bow over the top to draw attention away from the bobby pins and more toward the accessory :)

And then ... I thought I'd just add a couple pics from our Mother's Day :) Just for fun!

Getting ready for church ... quickly!

All-time favorite past-time ... wearing the hair ties as bracelets!

And my personal favorite...
about 5 minutes before we need to leave the house...

Q decided to put on mascara!!!! By herself!!
Well you gotta get dressed up for church, ya know!

Note to self: Q can now open twist on/off containers! .. like mascara tubes!

awwww, they grow up so fast! LOL

Creative Accessories

Accessories are something I'm just starting to dabble in, to be quite honest! I've always been more of a fan of the styles that seem to be braided or twisted, etc, "all by themselves!" With no visual clips or pins, etc.
However.... that's starting to change! I still like the ""mysteriously secured" hairdo's (for lack of a better term) - but who can resist an adorable bow or headband or... you get the idea! I really am enjoying spicing up some of our old "standby" hairdo's with a funky accessory these days.

I really understood the usefulness of different varieties of accessories this last weekend. We had three different events in two days - all which were dress up affairs and required different outfits. Now, lately Q hasn't been too crazy about me messing with her hair or I probably would have done 3 totally different styles (great excuse, right?!) but I knew that wouldn't make for a fun trip...! So instead, I managed to get one diagonal french braid in on the top of her head...

(the story behind this picture and event found in this post!)
For the first event I used these little cream colored bows - one on each side of the braid.

For the next one (the next morning) the braid had stayed in!!! So I just added one pink bow on top of the end of the braid. (I took out the cream bows the night before.)

(Sorry, no other pictures :( I wasn't thinking! Too distracted with the main event, I guess. Busy, busy!!)

and the third event Q wore a purple bow with a cream bead on it, which was attached to a bobby pin. I slid the bobby pin under the braid and the bow sat right next to the braid near the end.

:) Cute, fast, easy and Different, too!

Has anyone else had to make one style work for different occasions/days??
How did you do it?

Big Cornrows, Day 2 :)

We recycled this one! It was just too cute to wear for only one day :)

As you can see, I took out the very ends of the braids and raised the ponytail a bit. I think it actually works better with her short hair this way.

The braids got a bit fuzzy, but not too bad.

Then Q wanted these clips in her hair :)

Then when actually dressed for the day, I picked something to match her outfit :)

We Recycled It!

We ended up leaving the Duo-Trick Headband in today... and it looked just as good as yesterday! Even after today's nap, too! :)  I re-wet the curls and combed them out with the wide toothed comb and we were good to go!

Happy New Year!!

Recycled Wrapping

Hi! I hope everybody had a nice Christmas. and not toooo tiring!  I guess I'm not as second-nature about this blogging thing as I thought yet! I did Q's hair twice without taking any pictures along the way! But they're pretty straight forward, so I'll post the final pictures for ya!

First is Q's "Recycled" hairdo.... Twisted Christmas Eve .... on Christmas Day!
Not quite as stunning the second day, but not bad :)
