5-in-1, are you ready for this? :)

We survived! :) Alex is feeling much better after her little sick week. She is still on antibiotics and cough syrup with codeine(that's right, the good stuff:) It actually helps a ton, but she cannot stand the taste! Anyway, we are back online and happy to say nobody else is sick!
So, this look was inspired by The Story of a Princess and her African American hairstyles. By now, she may be done with it, but I'll post mine anyway:) Okay, so this is pretty simple, just a bunch of twists all over her head. You can do fewer if you like, but I just love this look on my little girl!
I put the elastics at the base right in the middle of each section, except for the one in the front. I pulled it all the way to one side to give the illusion of a side part. Please excuse the sleepy look, this was last Wednesday when she was super yucky feeling and on tylenol and ibuprofen...
I wanted to do something fun, so I alternated different geometric shapes for the parts.(you know, triangles, squares, rectangles, diamonds... yeah, you know) I was originally only planning to do the front sections and then pull the rest into three piggies, but Alex just fell in love with the twists!
This is the best shot I got of the top... I tried to use just her bangs for the front sections so she could still have those down in front. This was the day we went to the doctor and everyone complimented her hair! We left the twists in for two days... then took out just the end elastics and the look was so adorable! I just loved this! Okay, so the best thing about all this was how easy bathtime became:) Since we mostly stayed in, I didn't feel too bad about just washing her roots and a quick rinse for the rest. And, yes, the twists held up just fine.
These next two pics are out of order... this one is after I had taken out the other elastics the next day. I just grabbed the hair into super messy pigtails and then used some cute clips to hold the hair down to her head. This was so fun and so so cute!
Okay, this one is from the day we took out the first elastics and I love how the twists shaped the hair:) Because of my creative parts, I wasn't able to do even pigtails... Alex didn't really care though:) I think next time I do this, I will zigzag part the hair into piggies and then make the other sections from that. blah, blah, blah:) Okay, so I'm a little talky today! This last one is possibly my fav! I let everthing down and then just pulled up the front. This really looked adorable! It reminded me of Angelina's? hair in that movie... Gone in 60 seconds?(not sure if that's right, but I remember the hair, lol!) We went to the Y and the girls in the play zone just went on about it:)
Well, I'm glad to be back and I hope at least one of you enjoys my 5 day style:)

Nothing today either...

Okay, sorry for such a long time since posts. We had the boys bday party last weekend and my Great Aunt has been in the hospital since Friday and passed away this morning. So, life has been a little busy. I hope to post later today. Thanks for your patience.

What a mess!

Okay, time for dance class again:) I was in a relaxed sort of mood. Something simple and fun, but out of her face.
There are three ponies in the front keeping her bangs back. The middle one, I put in and then used my rat tail comb to pull the hair up and give it a little bouf. The sides I did pull-throughs in.
Then, I just gathered everything up in a pony. I did the first step for my ballerina bun and just pulled out a few pieces. Btw, this kind of style works great with kinks left in the hair from braids or twists, etc. from the day before:)
These pics are just too cute! A huge thanks to my sis, Amber for catching these!

Oh my! What a smile:) She makes me giggle!

Oh, before I go, I hope you'll take a minute to check out this blog... http://www.hairreactions.blogspot.com/ Meeghan just introduced herself and I really enjoyed her posts! Hope you do too:)

And... pull through again, and again!

This turned out way cuter than I expected! I was really just trying to get everything up out of the way... and I wanted to be sure it would stay all day!
It did stay, of course, all those ponies:) I started by parting out the front section. I put it into a pony and did the pull-through, then combined that hair with the section on one side. I am a big fan of side parts, which you can probably tell:)
I put the hair from the other side into it's own pull-through. Next I combined both pieces from the top and the next section of hair into a pull-through. I did one more section down and then the last section at the bottom, I flipped up.
This turned out so cute! And I just love the way her little bit of curl in the back bounced while she walked around:)
Btw, these pics are from the awesome Earth Day celebration at our Zoo! My princess got to take home this beautiful yellow snapdragon, and the boys got to hold a crayfish. Lol! They had a blast:)

Easy Peasy Pull-throughs

This is one of those styles I choose for days when we are in a hurry or I want her hair down and still want to see her pretty face!
There's my pale princess. Lol, she looks a little confused:)
See how super easy this is? Just three little pull through ponies. This time I left her bangs down and it really looked pretty. Sadly, I only took 4 pics total, so this is what you get:)
Okay, so her hair was really flat this day:) But I love leaving her hair down sometimes!

Rainbow sunset... and some twisty piggies!

I took a few pictures of the evening sky today and just casually thought about posting them. After I read CT's post, I decided I will! Well, here you go...
Alex is the one who noticed the beautiful pink and purple tonight. She started yelling at us to come look at the rainbow outside:) The sky was a perfect blue and there were just a couple clouds along the horizon... it was just amazing!
Okay, so now for some hair:) I would love to give credit to someone for this style, but I really don't remember where I saw it, or the something similar that inspired it:) There are a lot like this out there. In fact, my mom used to do stuff like this to my hair to keep me from messing with the headband.
I put Alex's bangs back first, then separated the section right behind from the rest of her hair. Next I made a zig zag part into pigtails. I divided the section left out into two parts and placed the headband between.
For the twists, I started with a piece in front of the headband and started twisting, then added a piece from the other side. I twisted all the way back and then secured it with an elastic over the original for the piggies.
After I was all done twisting here, I took out some of the first elastics... you don't have to, though. You could just stop here for a very sweet look, but I twisted the hair into "lazy" buns. Voila!
Lots of compliments today! I was going to add some ribbon pieces to the back, but just ran out of time. It looked super cute and stayed all day... here she is reading at bedtime.
I'll probably do this one a lot more, so fun!
I am adding some links! Thanks to Audrey at Hair Between My Fingers
for reminding me where I saw the style that inspired me:) It was at Girly Do's (of course!)
Jenn is so incredibly creative! Check it out!
Also, for the blog that inspired me to post my sunset pics! Thanks CT! (You don't mind me sending folks to you, right?:)

The Fauxhawk, pre-tweens, and David Boreanaz.

Okay, so this is inspired the look David Boreanaz wore when he played Angel on Buffy (anybody remember that?)... My little man likes it when I fix his hair a new way. Dad has always shaved the boys hair to about a 1/4 inch. I talked him into giving me at least one year of longer hair:) Although, they are in need of trims!
In any case, this is a cute 'do. I made a messy fauxhawk this time since he has so much hair on the sides right now. It is super easy and can be adjusted and altered into several looks. I basically just goop up his hair with strong gel, comb everything up and to the middle from the sides. Because my guy has curly hair, I then brushed the comb very lightly across the crest of hair to send the curls up a little. And aren't these kids just too adorable... flirting already!
And there you have it! My little charmer... Such a cutie:)

She'a a Kansas Princess

Lol, okay so here she is, my Kansas Princess... bafefoot in the drive, her baby and her rubberband gun in tow! This was at the end of the day when all her bangs had fallen down, but she was still too cute!
This was super simple today. I just separated out the front, put the rest in a pontytail. Then I parted and pulled back the front. I pulled it all into a half-bun and added the bow! Oh, and a bobby pin on each side for her bangs.
My silly girl... trying to convince me she is 10:) We were picking out new phones (I got the BB Storm, LOVE it!!) I told the kids they had to wait til at least 10 to get their own real phone.
She wanted to wear this new bow... I had to figure out something for such a big bow on such a tiny head! I actually used to bow to help hold up the half-bun.
I like the way this one looked from the sides too. It was super cute! I fixed my hair the same way, well, minus the bow:) She like being twinkies with mommy for the day!

Isn't she just too cute? ... I think so:)

Release of a new blog... about my family!

Introducing my family blog! Some of my wonderful followers may not be that interested. Lol, but this is the easiest way for me to let friends/family know about it:) If you feel so inclined, check it out. Just a bunch of silly stories about my kids and hubby, a few pics thrown in, and some updates about our lives in general. Nothing too fascinating really, but I do it more for myself anyway:) Writing helps me stay sane! I know you must be really curious, so follow the link...

Oh, and I know the name is a little cheesy, but I get that way sometimes...

A Moderate Mess... For Boys:)

This is a cute, easy style for boys. My little guy is growing his hair out a little and it is crazy in this in between phase:) I wish I had a before pic... he has super soft, super straight hair that sticks straight out from his head! He looks like a fuzzy baby hedgehog:)

This is what the top looks like when finished... out of order, sorry!

And then the back, see that nice cowlick right at his crown?

Okay, so to start this one off, I goop his hair up with all sorts of stuff. Today I used gel, mud, and hairspray... yes all three together! May sound funny, but it works for us.

I grab patches of hair and then give them a good twist, hold it for a few seconds. I do it all over the top. The sides I just smooth down, no big fuss about making it perfect.

This is the result of the twisting. For today's style, I did three rows of twists. Sorry for the cruddy pics... still on macro:(

Gently pat the hair down. His naturally sticks up, so this is necessary for us. You might not pat all the way down, but still pat it a little.

I use my fingers as a comb of sorts to fluff the hair back up. I know this sounds like I'm doing things over, but skipping any of these steps gets a totally different look:)

He loves the front sticking straight up like Leo from Little Einstein's. I just grab the hair at the front near the scalp and pinch while pulling up. I sprayed the whole thing with hairspray. That soft hair means I have to use everything to keep it in place!

Just look at those puppy dog eyes:)

Princess Braids

Well, I had more blur today... I had the camera set on macro for some reason:) Alex wanted princess hair, so I decided to do something with just the top half. I separated the sections I wanted to use with clips. I did the same thing on each side, though it looks a little different.
I used a smaller section on this side and I think it came out a little better. I did a French braid down right behind her bangs. She still has shorter hair at the front, so I couldn't just go into the french braid. Once I got to the bottom, I continued the french braid back to the crown of her head. I wasn't worried about being perfect... we wanted something somewhat relaxed.
To keep the braids low, I took a lot more hair from the top than below the braid. When I got to the back, I combined the two braids. I have no idea how to tell you to do this:) I just sort of add the sections together so I have just three pieces of hair.
I braided the rest of the hair to the bottom then did a partial pull-through letting the ends stick up through the top. Alex has natural curl at the bottom of her hair, so I didn't have to do much there.
I added a little curl'n'style... it is for black hair, but I love the stuff! If you use just a little, it really helps natural curls perk up and stay. We just keep at the ends where the curl is:)

After all that, I ended up with a perfect little angel!(Though my husband says I'm a little biased:)

Criss-cross twists into a bun. Another Easter do.

Okay, this isn't really my style, so for directions go to The Story of A Princess... http://hair4myprincess.blogspot.com/2009/03/easter-dress-and-fancy-easter-hair.html
I love the style and wanted to do this for Easter. However, my baby girl doesn't have quite enough hair, or maybe not a big enough head yet:) It is still super cute and I will do it again!
The only thing I did differently was the sections at the front. I was trying to go for a softer look, so instead of using elastics for each section, I parted and crossed them. Hope that makes sense:)
We had class for big brother, piano lessons, and church that day... she got compliments everywhere!
I think this is one that you can dress up or down. It is perfect for warm weather!
Doesn't she look comforatble? Lol, I think she would have fallen asleep if I'd let her:)
