Gymnastics Hair

Alex is wearing her Gymnastics shirt today and wanted hair to match. ;) We did a simple style, but it works well to keep the hair out of her face.
I started with a puff-braid headband by parting the hair down the middle at the front and going all the way around her head. I pulled the back-middle together with the ends of the 'headband'.
Next is the section on top right behind the 'headband. I just parted out 3 little sections.
I pulled all of the hair together into a ponytail... There really isn't anything fancy here, but it looked cute and Alex was happy with it! ;)
We do a lot of "all-up" hair dos during the summer and this was a nice change from our typical ponytail. We'll probably do the same thing for dance next year, but I might part the front differently...

She had to try a cartwheel, of course! ;)

I'll have another gymnastics do tomorrow, from that show everyone is always talking about. ;)

Red Villa Headband

Don't know if anyone will love this headband as much as me, but I was just pleased as punch! ;)
I made this to match a new outfit of Alexandra's from the Red Villa Baby Gap line. There's a funky and simple style here too...
First, for the headband... I used organza ribbon in crimson and just off-white to make a huge bow. It is attached to a mega thin headband and topped off with a crocheted butterfly. So pretty! ;)
For the hair... This took less than 5 minutes, really! I just grabbed a section of hair, no parting, and twisted it. Fold the twist over itself and wrap an elastic around it. I did this all the way around her head, leaving pieces sticking out all over the place! A little crazy and super messy, but we got more compliments than almost any other hair style I've done. ;)
She wore this style to dance that night and tumbling... it stayed up and out of her face and everyone thought it was cute. Bonus! ;)
Can you tell who picked the shoes?! ;) ~ Alex was being really sweet that day, so I just clicked away. And then she had to throw some diva in there... yeah, this last one is all Alex! ;)

Going back in time... pics of the Streamer Bows

The first three pictures here are of a custom headband I made last year for a Mom wanting to do B&W portraits. I came across these while looking for the others and remembered how much I liked them;) Anyway, I think I might make another to list in my shop...
Usually my hubby thinks that Alex is "over the top" when she models my items, but this one he just loved! He said it had a rather "film noire" feel. Lol, it was pretty cute;)

These next pics are from Alex's 2nd bday. I painted her shirt with a cute little cupcake and then made some streamer bows to match.
Save the little bump she got on her lip, she looked so perfect;)
She also wore this set to the Zoo and got so many compliments! I sold two shirts and 6 sets of bows just from that day;)
Well, hope that helps with what the Halloween streamers will look like. These are a perfect bow for pigtails. They also look super cute on the side of a bun or underneath pigtail buns. Lots of fun;)

I just remembered that a few post back, she was wearing some other streamer clips. Just click the link to see them...

The other attempt... Zigzag headband

Okay, this is the same basic style as the last post. In fact I already mentioned it, but wanted to show what I tried to do:) For the pony part, I just back-combed the hair and then sprayed with a little hairspray.
Another silly look on her face:) This really would look nice with longer hair. I took the hair from one section and tied it around the next elastic. Obviously, hers came out really fast because of her short bangs, but it still looked really cute:)
She said she saw a spider:) Lol, that's my princess!

Zigzag headband and a messy ponytail

Okay, before you say anything, yes! I totally cheated and used this same picture on my other blog today. You just get to enjoy it twice:)
I did this style twice. This one turned out way better! I tried to cover the elastics the second time I did it, but Alex does not have quite enough hair for that:) If your little on does, you can use a little piece of hair from each section and tie a knot around the elastic. Yeah, maybe I'll show you what I mean in a few months:)
Okay, so, the most important part of this style, was the part:) I did a zigzag straight across the top. Then I put the section behind each little point into an elastic, starting from one side and going all the way across, and adding the hair from the previous section to the next pony. Go it? :)
We ended on this side and I added one more elastic to hold the hair behind her ear, though the wind uncovered it for me:)
I pulled up the hair just behind the "headband" and made a little messy bun. The second time I did this, I made a big poof with this pony by ratting it like crazy and adding some hairspray. It was super cute!

Oh, and check out that look... I promise, I didn't do it!

Rainbow sunset... and some twisty piggies!

I took a few pictures of the evening sky today and just casually thought about posting them. After I read CT's post, I decided I will! Well, here you go...
Alex is the one who noticed the beautiful pink and purple tonight. She started yelling at us to come look at the rainbow outside:) The sky was a perfect blue and there were just a couple clouds along the horizon... it was just amazing!
Okay, so now for some hair:) I would love to give credit to someone for this style, but I really don't remember where I saw it, or the something similar that inspired it:) There are a lot like this out there. In fact, my mom used to do stuff like this to my hair to keep me from messing with the headband.
I put Alex's bangs back first, then separated the section right behind from the rest of her hair. Next I made a zig zag part into pigtails. I divided the section left out into two parts and placed the headband between.
For the twists, I started with a piece in front of the headband and started twisting, then added a piece from the other side. I twisted all the way back and then secured it with an elastic over the original for the piggies.
After I was all done twisting here, I took out some of the first elastics... you don't have to, though. You could just stop here for a very sweet look, but I twisted the hair into "lazy" buns. Voila!
Lots of compliments today! I was going to add some ribbon pieces to the back, but just ran out of time. It looked super cute and stayed all day... here she is reading at bedtime.
I'll probably do this one a lot more, so fun!
I am adding some links! Thanks to Audrey at Hair Between My Fingers
for reminding me where I saw the style that inspired me:) It was at Girly Do's (of course!)
Jenn is so incredibly creative! Check it out!
Also, for the blog that inspired me to post my sunset pics! Thanks CT! (You don't mind me sending folks to you, right?:)
