3 french braids into fantails

Spring break is almost over, but we went out to a place called Antelope Island (its an Island on the Great Salt Lake) I have lived about an hour and a half away from it for my whole life and have never been there! They have some great Mountain bike trails, (my husband is big into the biking thing) so we loaded up the kids and headed off but not before we did hair that would stay out of their eyes (its windy) when their bike helmets are off and the helmets would fit over hair so this is what we came up with for Baby Mermaid!
Here I have split the hair into three sections, one across the front and two pigtail sections

braids down the two pigtails, fantail on the one side

french braid across the front

pull the front braid back and under the fantail

hook with a clear elastic on french braid

fold into a fantail

from the front

top back view. after we got there I was so glad that we did her hair up tight because they played and played on the sandy beach! her hair was full of sand when we got home! this would be a great do for the beach!

here are the girls at sunset! it was a great fun time! (weird thing on baby Mermaids nose,it was a camera thing not a deformity we have been hiding all these years! LOL)

Daddy Daughter Ball

My girls got the chance to go to a Daddy Daughter ball with their dad! They had such a good time, he got them little corsages and everything, the funnest part was my Dear Husband surprised them. The ball was at the school, so they new about it, but he told them he wouldn't be able to do that with them. Then he asked them to get dressed up cause they were doing something special, they got all dolled up and then they were off to the ball! they had a great time! Here is Baby Mermaids hairdo.
First I combed her hair back into a pony but I left all around it long.

I put the pony into a bun

then I started to pull up little sections, spray them with lots of hairspray comb them smooth and then hook them into the bun.

Keep pulling the hair up till you have all the hair into a bun (except the bangs)

then, braid back the bangs into the bun

other side of the bangs

The pictures keep coming, this one is from the front
and then I had to stick in a bow! LOL
well thanks for looking at my blog!

Easy! Oriental bun

Today we went for a bun to match Little Mermaids dress, this is probably the easiest bun we have ever done!

We put her hair into a half ponytail .

Then we put a chopstick in between her head and the elastic, My hot man put it in a pencil sharpener to make it slide in her hair better!

then I twisted the hair and wrapped it in a figure 8 around the chopstick

just keep wrapping, wrapping wrapping

then I bobby pined the ends around the bun,

Here she is from the front

and from the back!

Show Choir hair

To Cool for Hair is in a show choir and this is her show choir hair for this year. I had to go to a meeting to learn how to do it, but I had cub scouts so I sent my Dear Husband. Last year they taught us how to use a curling Iron and I thought no problem this year, I would just read the instructions and whip it out... (hahahaha) it was a little bit more involved but really cute so here goes. pull the back part of her hair into a twist and secure with a elastic.
I parted her hair back about an inch and a half and then parted that above her left eye. slicked down her hair to her ears and....

pined it above her ears, then I pulled the front part back and hooked it into the twist, I did pin curls above the twist following these instructions

and here we are from the back with lots of hairspray

and the top with lots of hairspray

I told her she had crazy eyes but she said no more pics so I guess this is as good as it gets this early in the morning.

Trash Tie bunns

I Bought my trash ties last Christmas, was so excited to use them and quite honestly do not love them, I have only used them a couple of times, and I won't purchase any more, if you have them and love them! great, this is of course my opinion, but enough with the rant and on with the hair! so this is baby Mermaids hair and we wanted it up because it was going to be hot! I started with the hair in a high pony and with an elastic then I made a slip type knot out of the trash tie and tightened it up in her hair!

see it really is made out of a wire!

Here I am wrapping the hair and the "trash tie" together

Then I just twist it up on itself and then "sew" the end into the hair and fold it over on itself, I have a hard time getting these in tight but last minute we decided to go swimming and it stayed in beautiful! for which I was very surprised I think it is because we put it in a pony with an elastic first!

here is the back with a bow. When I made this bow set a couple of years ago my dear sweet supportive husband said "seriously Heather, the poor kid looks like Princess Leah" now we try to wear them one at a time or as really high pigtails

I have been teasing baby mermaid because she closes her eyes for every pic, she is super sensitive to light so this is her funny "mom, I am opening my eyes pic"

The Crown

we had a lot of time today before church and so we all got fancy Hair, This is Little princesses woven crown. That's what they call it. It is a variation on a hairdo found on http://hair4myprincess.blogspot.com/

First we part her hair from ear to eat and hook the bottom hair so it wont get in your way

Then we braided the front part of her hair into eight sections
then we parted out the bottom part of her hair and hooked it to keep it out of our way!

Then we sectioned the middle part of her hair into eight sections to match the front and put it in little pigtails, the elastic color doesn't matter here because these will be the base of your buns!

We braided the bottom section to match the same parts as the middle and top

now we hooked with an elastic the top and bottom braids to the pigtails to create the weave (I tried to number and letter them so you can see how this works

Here is another pic without the numbers, the middle braid (the fourth one from the right goes to the farthest pigtail on the left and then just take the third to the second on the left etc.)

Weave the braids to the opposite pigtails using the old over under theory!

This is how I love to do a bun, it is so easy and everyone stops me and asks me how. what you do is wrap the hair around your two fingers like so.

Hold it with your other hand while you slide it off your fingers

take a bobby pin and hook in to the hair next to the scalp, then take a second bobby pin and hook it the other way to create an X on the bottom of the curl.

Here is an up close pic

I totally hair sprayed this, tonz of hairspray and then took the pic before it dried sorry! It dries nicely though

Here is the back (the hairspray is still wet) I told you I used alot of hairspray

add a bow of course and you are done!
