Snips
The most important part of any hairstyle is healthy hair!
Alex got her first trim over the summer from a friend of the family. It was helpful to be in a comfortable environment. She also watched her Godmommy get a haircut first. It was a blast and her hair was so much easier to work with.
And a bonus... I loved the cute little pony she put on top of Alex's head:) This one is a great no-fuss do that looks super cute!
A few weeks after Alex's cut, she decided give herself bangs! Mommy wasn't very happy! She still looked adorable of course, but it was certainly more challenging to fix her hair. The lesson learned here, don't set scissors down in front of a two-year-old (oops!:)
I have to admit, I am getting really excited about the Christmas season, so we really dressed up yesterday!:)
My sis-in-law straightened her daughter's hair last week, and it was so cute! So, I tried it on Alex. I gave her a big-girl updo by gathering the top half of her hair, twisting it gently and tucking it under. This only took 3 bobbypins to secure, then I added a flower for fun! She looked so pretty and "grown-up"

Braids
Why I didn't start doing braids earlier, I don't know. But they are quickly becoming a favorite!
This style is great for squirmers, and doesn't require as much length. I parted Alex's hair for pigtails, then divided one side in half. Just a basic braid, three sections no fuss, for the top half. I used a mini rubber band to hold that, then gathered all the hair on that side into a low pigtail, added a bow for fun and got an adorable look:) So many compliments that day!
Twirls
Twists
Alex finally has hair to do lots of things with and she's old enough to sit still for a little bit. We still do a lot of pigtails and ponytails, but sometimes I really get to have fun!

This was one of those times Alex actually wanted me to fix her hair. So, she sat in front of the mirror and watched and played while I played:) It may look fancy, but I just pulled up a few sections of hair with bobby pins and then curled the ends. I also used a 1/4 inch curling iron on some strands by her face. I added a tiara and she looked just like a little princess!
This is a fun way to liven up a ponytail. You can twist or fold the holder over the hair on the last wrap around rather than pulling it all the way through.

Curls
Headbands again, I know, but they are so versatile! Here are two more designs that look great with little or lots of hair. You can also put a headband on with pigtails or a ponytail which looks so cute!
Accessories
When I ran out of new styles to try, I started making accessories. Accessories are so much fun and there are endless ways to use them. You can go simple, or do something extravagant. And you are sure to get attention for your little one:)

I always try to match the accessories and hairstyle to the outfit. Not just the obvious, like color, but also the feel. Jeans and a t-shirt probably don't need a 12-layer bow:)

I just love the way Alex looks in low pigtails, though this one needs a little bit longer hair than other styles. This style looks great with a sundress or country themed outfit:)

These may be my favorite accessory! Curlies, the ever popular clips from Gymboree and other Children's boutiques are always adorable!
A few inches
This one looked very pretty. I just twisted a few little sections of hair back and secured them with a small pony.
You have so many options now, keep experimenting!
