Braids

Why I didn't start doing braids earlier, I don't know. But they are quickly becoming a favorite!
This style is great for squirmers, and doesn't require as much length. I parted Alex's hair for pigtails, then divided one side in half. Just a basic braid, three sections no fuss, for the top half. I used a mini rubber band to hold that, then gathered all the hair on that side into a low pigtail, added a bow for fun and got an adorable look:) So many compliments that day!

I had to wait for Alex's hair to get longer so I could do french braids, but the results are beautiful! This might be my favorit so far! And as you can see, aside from a few layers around the face, this stayed up all day (and night)!

Twirls

I found a couple of older pictures and decided to post them. The pony-braids I have shown before, but this is a better picture. And I love the one with just the clip! I think this is a very pretty look.

I fixed Alex's hair for a special Sunday when family was in town. It looked so pretty. I parted her hair then twisted and pulled those pieces back. I secured them with a flower clip.

Twists

Alex finally has hair to do lots of things with and she's old enough to sit still for a little bit. We still do a lot of pigtails and ponytails, but sometimes I really get to have fun!

This was one of those times Alex actually wanted me to fix her hair. So, she sat in front of the mirror and watched and played while I played:) It may look fancy, but I just pulled up a few sections of hair with bobby pins and then curled the ends. I also used a 1/4 inch curling iron on some strands by her face. I added a tiara and she looked just like a little princess!

This is a fun way to liven up a ponytail. You can twist or fold the holder over the hair on the last wrap around rather than pulling it all the way through.
Here I combined a diagonal part with sloppy bun pigtails and added some big bows. So cute! And this kind of style is perfect for parties. Looks great and stays in place for hours!

Here is another style that is a little more grown-up. For this I just pinched a bit of hair in front, gave it a twist, and secured it with a medium sized snap clip.

Curls

At this stage, most girls have a little bit of curl which makes fixing hair very easy. Ponytails have that nice shape and you don't have to do much. But if your little princess has super-straight locks, no worries! This is your chance to show them off. Try using a clip on each side to keep hair out of her face and let those strands shine:)

Headbands again, I know, but they are so versatile! Here are two more designs that look great with little or lots of hair. You can also put a headband on with pigtails or a ponytail which looks so cute!

And here is one of the prettiest styles our little Alex ever wore. It is just a high ponytail, but it looks so adorable. She still had a few strands in the back that needed gel to stay in place, but this was very easy and very sweet!

Accessories

When I ran out of new styles to try, I started making accessories. Accessories are so much fun and there are endless ways to use them. You can go simple, or do something extravagant. And you are sure to get attention for your little one:)
This was a super-popular clip I made last summer and sold in my ebay store.

I always try to match the accessories and hairstyle to the outfit. Not just the obvious, like color, but also the feel. Jeans and a t-shirt probably don't need a 12-layer bow:)

I just love the way Alex looks in low pigtails, though this one needs a little bit longer hair than other styles. This style looks great with a sundress or country themed outfit:)

These may be my favorite accessory! Curlies, the ever popular clips from Gymboree and other Children's boutiques are always adorable!

A few inches

This is when things really start to get fun! You can really liven up the same old thing with some cute clips. Another great trick that turns tons of heads is a cute part! Try a diagonal or zig-zag pattern. We have also done a wavy one.

Sometimes, kids just don't want to stay still. On these days, I just put Alex's hair in a ponytail. I used clips to hold up those few extra strands:)

This one looked very pretty. I just twisted a few little sections of hair back and secured them with a small pony.

You have so many options now, keep experimenting!

Bangs

I love this stage because Alex had natural bangs, and they looked very pretty.

Yeah! I was finally able to get all of her hair up! Pigtails remain a favorite, but now we can get a little more creative!

I saw a little girl while on vacation who had this style. And I just fell in love. I probably could have managed this one even earlier, but didn't know about it. I just parted the hair down the middle and then parted each half into sections. This is by far the easiest up-do:) This can be worn for everyday, but looks really lovely with dresses. Plus, it stays up all day. This picture is after my daughter's nap, so you can see it held up pretty well.

Here is another adorable style. I just used tiny claw clips to pull back 4 or 5 little bits of hair on top of her head. this is super easy to do, and re-do when needed.

Puffs

As your daughter gets more hair your desire to use those little rubber bands will only grow stronger.
I suggest pigtails as the first hair-do. Baby's hair doesn't have to be as long as it would for a ponytail. Besides, they just look so cute! As you can see, you don't have to get everything up to get a cute look. To add a cute touch, try adding those tiny clips.

Another cute option is the little puff on top of the head. This looks completely different on every little girl, so you may love it or might hate it:) I preferred the pigtails on my little one.
Don't be afraid to just leave her hair down either. We got a lot of compliments when our daughter's hair wasn't up!
For ease, I think I will give my baby a blog name. Let's go with Alex:)

Wisps...

There are some things that most moms do, like put a tiny clip in baby's hair even though it doesn't do much and falls out every ten seconds:) But, we can't help ourselves! We want to play dress-up. Can you see that clip holding on, trying to say, "look, this is a girl!" One of my favorites! Hats are always an easy and adorable choice for those with little fur:)

And then, there's the oh-so-popular headband! Don't we just love bows! Headbands are great, because girl's can wear them for years and they look super-cute, even on baldies! Also, there are so many types, you just can't really go wrong:)
