Also, I wanted to add a note about hair gel - since I had used some in Q's hair for Christmas and she hasn't had her hair washed since then (!!) ... by wetting the hair, it sort of reconstitutes the gel and it held her curls crunchy that day. :) Kinda nice when we're getting in and out of the car a lot, it helps keep the curls from ratting...

Twisties in a "V"
These twisties actually have quite a lot of hair pulled into them... I just combed it forward so that the twist started closer to her forehead. I did one on each side and then brought them together and secured with my favorite dragonfly hair clip! (Which Q has misplaced since then....sigh....)

Recycled Wrapping
Hi! I hope everybody had a nice Christmas. and not toooo tiring! I guess I'm not as second-nature about this blogging thing as I thought yet! I did Q's hair twice without taking any pictures along the way! But they're pretty straight forward, so I'll post the final pictures for ya!
First is Q's "Recycled" hairdo.... Twisted Christmas Eve .... on Christmas Day!
Not quite as stunning the second day, but not bad :)

day five hair challenge!
This is day Five, this will be the last day of my hair challenge but to tell you the truth she wore her hair like this for 2 days! wahooo! I feel like a hair recycler to the max!
So we took her hair out of the french braided bun and It would of looked similar to this but I cheated, washed her hair and triple barrelled it while we were watching t.v. but You could still get the same look by just upbraiding hair and touching up with a crimper or triple barrel, I just couldn't deal with dirty hair any more! LOL
If you remember we had a crooked part to start with so I just took a square off of that part and then the two side sections, hooked them up in elastics, and then pulled them through with a Topsy tail! easy peasy!
Here she is from the front! thanks for reading my hair challenge for the week! I had a great time and I hope to do this again soon!

Hair Challenge day 4
Merry Christmas Everyone! I took a couple of days off of my computer to spend time with my family but I am back and excited to show you the next step
Here is what she looked like when I started, (I had unhooked the cross braids) at this point I think that her hair could use a wash but we are going to do a 4th day just for fun!
I have showed you this hairdo before but I thought this would be perfect, we already had braid bumps and this would keep it out of her eyes and off her neck and disguise the dirtiness of her hair, I also added a bow on the top, but I was in a hurry and only got this one shot, sorry!

Twisted Christmas Eve
I've been searching all over and racking my brain - trying to come up with a wonderful, exciting, interesting hairdo for Christmas Eve!! What do you think??
(Inspired by this one!)
After spraying Q's curls down with water and gently combing them out (with a wide toothed comb) I sectioned out a four pieces in front of her head.
Then I added some gel and twisted each one. (Divide hair into two parts, twist each section to the same direction - I did the right- then wrap them around each other the, the other direction - I did the left.)
and brought them together. The two left ones together and the two on the right together.
Then! I threaded my plastic kids craft needle! ... I wrapped the ribbon around each twisty and sort of sewed it to her hair! Up one twisty, and back down, up the other and back down, then I tied it in a bow when I got back to the elastic again.
Then I did the same to the other side .... and viola! All Done! A Twisted Christmas Eve Hairdo. :)
MERRY CHRISTMAS, Everyone!

(I anchored each "V" to a little piece of hair that was directly under where I wanted the tip of the "V" to stay.)

Hair Gel - Homemade and Natural!
I don't like to use a lot of products in, well, Anybody's hair. :) But especially small baby's and kid's hair. It usually contains soooo many potentially harmful chemicals, etc, that I just want to avoid it. (Not to mention that many products can dry out the hair and make it damaged and harder to manage.)
However, sometimes you just need extra hold! and curls often (so I'm learning) respond well to a bit of product - whether it's to hold the shape of the curl, or whatever. So I began looking for alternative options. I found a ton!
This is the only one I've actually tried so far - but I like it so well that I haven't felt the need to keep searching! :) Here's the "recipe" ...
Take approx one cup of water and 2 Tablespoons of flax seed. (Whole, not ground) Place in a pan on the stove and bring to a boil. Then let it simmer on low heat for about 10-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
And that's it! You can add an Essential Oil for fragrance if you want it to smell pretty. :) I added Sweet Orange to mine tonight. (My favorite is Vanilla, though! But I couldn't find it....)
I keep ours in the refrigerator and it lasts about a week or two. :)
Enjoy!

Day 3 hair challenge!
Here is the picture of her hair day three before we started
Yuck! glad I do my kids hair in the morning!
I just re combed her hair and put in new elastics, this time though I just put in the four pigtails I didn't hook in the top to the bottom ones...yet
Now I took the top pigtail braided it in two, and then hooked the braids to the bottom pigtails by crossing the middle ones!
Added bows of course!
and here she is out the door for the day!
